It’s not all that often that we get to meet one of the recipients of our Care Packages sent to our defenders who are deployed in foreign lands under stressful combat situations.
We met one such young Airmen who was stationed in Jordan, a country in the Middle East that borders Iraq, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and the West Bank. That’s right in the thick of it so they slept with one eye open.
He, along with his fellow Airmen, wished to express his appreciation for our support and “boxes of home”. Here is what Security Forces Staff Sergeant David Hunley had to say about how he and his mates, and this message goes out to the entire SHFM Community and the families who are supporting our mission.
Good afternoon,
I just want to say thanks again for the care packages while on deployment. Every time we received a package, everyone was grabbing everything they needed to stock up on their snacks for the times we had to miss chow. The coffee really helped, especially during the 12-Day War with Iran that occurred in June. I don’t know how many cups of coffee we had but we went through two coffee machines to help us stay awake and alert through every alarm. My team along with two other teams that we worked with enjoyed every package you sent us, and we all appreciate your support.
Very respectfully,
DAVID A. HUNLEY, SSgt, USAF
Visitor Control Center, S3V
4th Security Forces Squadron
Seymour Johnson AFB, NC
By the way, SSgt Hunley leaves next month for another deployment overseas. We wish him safe travels and a speedy return to his wife and two children.
