What is the value of it to the men and women in uniform?
The value to the Service Member is that they receive valuable information about the hospitality industry from seasoned professionals. This not only helps them while serving in the military but gives them insight of the opportunities we as an industry offer when they complete their service.
For many of these Marines, Sailors, Soldiers, and Airmen, their experiences have been limited. They lack exposure to the complex and sometimes intricate elements that make up our industry, such as Foodservice Distribution, Multiple Segments in the Industry, Contract Management Companies, variety of vendors supporting Foodservice, Regional and National Accounts, and the endless career opportunities they can pursue upon separation from service.
What is in it for the traveler?
Everything and more!! The ability to see the lives of the great people serving our great country is a once in a lifetime experience. To be able to meet, interact and mentor these young people is extremely rewarding. During your visit you will meet everyone from the base commander to the enlisted men and women on every base visit. You see what the base mission is and how they fuel this mission through food and hospitality. You also get to see a few cool things during the visit. For example, the world-Famous Thunderbirds, watching Marine firearm training and even being inside a nuclear missile silo. But most importantly you create lifelong friendships!
