Hennessy Traveler Program
SHFM’s Long Tradition with the Hennessy Traveler Program

The Hennessy Award is the oldest Military foodservice award established in 1957 and named for the late John L. Hennessy, a hotel and restaurant executive who lead a special Hoover Commission Task Group advisory of Military Food Service and Commissaries board to improve military foodservice. The John L. Hennessy Award is named in his honor promoting foodservice excellence between the military and industry experts.
Our Society has been participating in this program since the beginning, before we were officially a Society. We are proud to have been a part of the Military Traveler Program since its inception through the legacy associations who merged to create SHFM. Our first traveler participated in 1957! Check out our Past Travelers

Today, the tradition continues with our 2017 Traveler, Hal Ritchie. Hal is a past SHFM (SFM) Board member and an active member of the foodservice community with his companies, Ritchie International Branded Resource Group and Core Concepts, Inc.
Please watch our Food & Hospitality At Work for more on Hal’s adventures as our Traveler!
