Letter From The President
As I sit down to write this letter, it is impossible for me not to reflect. I am amazed at what has been accomplished this year and that the time has literally sped by so quickly. The role of the SHFM president is a tremendous honor and I have been humbled to serve this great Society over the past year.

Our Society, like our industry, has to remain ever ready and adapt to the trends and needs of our customers. This year we have done just that. I would like to thank the members of each SHFM Local market committee for the great work that they do. Bringing SHFM hospitality and programming to our members, and our potential members, is no simple task. This work is supported by the incredible results from our standing committees. Our Membership, Marketing and TREND Committees work behind the scenes to support the ongoing strategic plan goals of the Society. They don’t often step into the limelight but the work they do moves us forward in so many ways and I can’t thank them enough.

Our Industry Advisory Board works to produce our Hunger Games 2 event at the national conference and to raise awareness and much needed funds for those less fortunate. The dedication of this group amazes me and touches my heart every year.

Our Foundation has supported the future of our industry by providing nine scholarships to college aged students who have an interest in our segment of the industry. In addition, the Foundation also supported five college courses supporting our industry and 15 high school aged kids through its Internship Program. Finally, our Foundation supports our Hennessy Traveler program, where we as a Society have the opportunity to support our military through this program. Our 2016 Traveler will be none other than Past President Mark Freeman. If you would like to support this program, you will have the opportunity to do so at the conference registration desk.

This Society truly is a community. One that gives back in so many ways and I am so proud to be a part of this one of a kind association. When it comes down to our core, we truly are a family. I thank you all for your unending support and I look forward to thanking each of you personally in just a few days in New Orleans.
