Your Family. Your Inspiration. Your Success.

Letter from the President
It has been my great honor to serve as SHFM President, and in this, my final Presidents Quarterly, I’d like to reflect on this year and look ahead toward a bright future for SHFM.

Since the last Presidents Quarterly, I had the opportunity to attend the Military Foodservice Awards Dinner, IFMA Silver and Gold Plate Dinner and the SHFM Networking Breakfast during the NRA show — all wonderful and moving experiences. It was an amazing honor to meet so many men and women in the armed forces and a privilege for SHFM to participate in the Hennessy Traveler’s program. Congratulations to all of the 2016 winners.

The SHFM team has been hard at work to release the SHFM Association and Conference App, which is now available on your Apple and Android devices.  Make sure you download and experience all the App has to offer. The more you get to know the app the more prepared you’ll bee for the national conference. Find peers and colleagues quickly with the member directory, peruse original research and newsletters, and of course, check all our social media posts — all in one place.

The SHFM Local teams have also been diligent in delivering strong educational content with a common underlying theme of technology and the added component of a hunger awareness activity. I can’t wait to share the results with you at the upcoming national conference!

On the original research front, Corporate Dining collected enough data to produce a small study, and will deliver the first of its kind Conference Center study featuring KPI and benchmarks unique to the B&I environment.

As we pave the way for the future and the next generation of SHFM leaders, we are excited to announce the release of the “Rising Star” program. In the Rising Star program, SHFM will sponsor 13 young professionals to join SHFM, attend national conference and help shape the future of our great Association.

Finally, it is with deep pride and gratitude to the entire SHFM membership and FSA management team, I bid the president’s seat a heartfelt farewell. This has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life on many levels. Thank you for having me as SHFM’s leader, thank you for your continued support and I look forward to the great things in store for our wonderful Association.

Sincerely,

Bernadette Ventura | SHFM President
